Blade protection solutions firm Polytech has laid off 67 employees in its native Denmark, citing a global slowdown in the wind turbine industry.
The lay-offs were made today (30 August), and were split roughly equally between white-collar and blue-collar workers.
Prior to today, Polytech employed about 600 workers globally, of whom 400 were in Denmark.
It explained that it had received fewer orders from large wind turbine manufacturers amid significant increases in manufacturing material and freight costs, inflation, and raw material shortages.
CEO Mads Kirkegaard said that he hopes and expects that the “green transition will continue at full strength from 2024 onwards”.
