Chile awards wind and solar contracts in latest energy tender

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) plans to develop a mix of wind and solar energy in Chile to meet contracts to supply electricity to regulated clients in the country’s latest energy tender.

The company, part of Saudi firmAbdul Latif Jameel Energy, won contracts to supply 651GWh of electricity annually from 2027. The projects will be installed in the northern region of Tarapacá and the central region of Maule.

“Chile is a market to which we are firmly committed and with great plans for the future,” said Manuel Pavón, managing director of FRV South America.

The company now has contracts to develop projects with more than 700MW of capacity and a total pipeline of more than 2.5GW.
