ABO Wind sells large Canadian onshore wind farm to mystery buyer

German renewable energy developer ABO Wind has sold the rights to its onshore 514.6MW Buffalo Plains wind Farm to an anonymous investor after reaching ready-to-build status.

The Alberta Utility Commission has granted permits for 83 of Siemens Gamesa’s SG 6.2-170 turbines with hub heights of 115m. It has also permitted connection to the public power grid. Both permits have become fully effective.

Buffalo Plains will be built on nearly 71km² of privately owned farmland in Alberta. The project is expected to generate 1.5TWh of electricity per year.
