Swedish energy company Vattenfall attributed higher energy prices and new capacity to the 487% rise in its underlying operating profit (Ebit) for Q2.
Its underlying Ebit was SEK 1.8 billion (€175 million) in the second quarter of 2022, up from SEK 312 million in the same period one year ago. Energy prices have soared across Europe following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in late February.
Vattenfall’s interim Q2 report also revealed a net sales increase of 76% and an electricity generation rise of 9% for Q2 – the latter driven by higher generation from the offshore wind farms, Sandbank and DanTysk in Germany, and new capacity at its Danish Kriegers Flak project.
