UK utility Octopus Energy Generation has bought the Borssele V offshore innovation site off the Netherlands from a consortium of sellers including marine engineers Van Oord.
The wind farm features two of Vestas’ V164-9.5MW turbines, as well as several innovative technologies, including: the world’s first submerged slip-joint foundation, technologies designed to protect against steel corrosion and rocks installed at the base of each turbine, offering scour protection and a marine habitat for oysters.
Octopus bought the project from a consortium comprising Van Oord, project development services provider Investri Offshore and financial advisors Green Giraffe.
