DHL to support Vestas logistics in Chile

Vestas and DHL Supply China have formed an alliance to support the turbine maker’s expansion in Chile.

Under the deal, the German logistics company will help to operate Vestas’ new 3,000m2 centre in the capital Santiago, which will handle spare parts for turbines in Chile, Bolivia, and Peru.

“The speed of the logistics system is key to supporting our service and maintenance operations, optimise energy generation and provide reliability during the [lifetime] of the wind projects,” said Claudemir Alves Costa, head of LATAM supply chain operations at Vestas.

Vestas installed its first wind turbine in Chile in 2001 and now has more than 1.4 GW of capacity installed or under construction in the country, representing a market share of almost 40%.
