Masdar plans green hydrogen in Egypt

Masdar has signed memoranda of understanding with Egyptian state-backed organisations, related to the development of green hydrogen capacity in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.

It aims to use local wind and solar resources to power 4GW of electrolyser capacity 2030, producing ammonia for export and hydrogen for use in local industries.

The UAE government-owned energy company hopes to bring an initial phase online by 2026.
