Irish firm Simply Blue Group is joining forces with clean energy developer MJM Renewables, to develop an up to 500MW floating offshore wind farm.
The up to 500MW Nomadic Offshore Wind project is planned for a site in the north Atlantic Ocean, between Northern Ireland and Islay, Scotland.
Different routes to market are being explored, including a green energy park and the production of green hydrogen and e-fuels, the partners stated. The output could power manufacturing plants, hydrogen production, a data centre and R&D facilities in Northern Ireland.
The project would also provide an opportunity for the local supply chain to gear up for commercial-scale opportunities off Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Its planned floating platforms would enable deployment in deeper waters, distant from shores, shipping lanes and fishing grounds, Simply Blue Group stated.
Simply Blue Group is involved in 2.75GW of floating offshore wind development in UK and Irish waters, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
