OX2 has applied to construct an approximately 1.8GW wind farm off the coast of Skåne in the south of Sweden.
It is unclear whether its planned 1500MW Triton wind farm, in the Baltic Sea near the coastal town of Ystad, would be in one of the three offshore wind zones that the Swedish government unveiled last week.
The Swedish developer said the wind farm will comprise 129 turbines – indicating an average power rating of about 14MW – with fixed bottom foundations “to keep construction time short”.
Once completed, the wind farm will produce 7.5TWh per year, equivalent to the energy consumption of 1.5 million households, OX2 added.
In October, OX2 filed a Natura 2000 permit application for an approximately 1.7GW offshore wind farm – the 400MW Galene project – off the west coast of Sweden.
That project is set to include 101 turbines over two areas with a potential annual output of up to 7TWh.
The two projects give OX2 a potential 3.5GW offshore wind pipeline in Sweden.
