Nordex will supply 56 of its N163/6.X wind turbines, all in 6.8MW operating mode, for the 380MW Pjelax onshore wind complex in Finland.
The order is the company's first from Finnish state utility Fortum and also marks the debut for Nordex's 6.X turbine variant in the Nordic region.
Installation of the turbines is scheduled to start in spring 2023, with full commissioning expected in the second quarter of 2024 at the latest.
The €380 million project is being built in the municipalities of Närpes and Kristinestad in south-west Finland.
It is the first project under a partnership between Fortum and German utility Uniper, which was first announced in December 2020. The partners aim to build 1.5-2.5GW of new wind and solar capacity in Europe by 2025.
Fortum will own a 60% stake in the Pjelax-Böle-Kristinestad Norr cluster, while Uniper's role is to help with construction, asset management and operations and maintenance (O&M), rather than have a shareholding.
Finnish utility Helen holds the remaining 40% share in Pjelax-Böle & Kristinestad Norr. It will also buy approximately 50% of the 1.1TWh annual power generation expected from the project.
The turbine supply agreement with Nordex also includes a long-term service contract.
