Nordex is optimistic for its future in its home market of Germany having picked up 123MW of new turbine orders in July and August.
It will supply 12 wind farms in Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and North-Rhine Westphalia with several different turbine models.
The N149 and N163 models have performed especially well, the company stated, with its N149/5.X accounting for the majority of the new orders.
The largest of the new projects is a 30.6MW wind farm in Brandenburg, and will consist of six N149 turbines on 125-metre tubular steel towers.
In the first half of 2021, Nordex had received orders for 268MW of turbines in Germany.
“We are seeing a further increase in demand for our turbines in Germany. Particularly our turbines in the Delta4000 series, above all the N149 and N163, account for a steadily increasing share in the tenders,” said Karsten Brüggemann, managing director of the Nordex Group.
Brüggemann believes Nordex is well-positioned for the future energy turnaround in Germany, partly due to its new N163/6.X, which he noted is suitable for noise sensitive sites.
Germany’s onshore wind sector has been stuttering in recent years, with complex and lengthy permitting procedures that have led to an inadequate supply of projects eligible to compete at auction.
Wind industry groups have called for action on permitting and repowering ahead of the German election later this month.
