GE Renewable Energy has been selected to provide 107 of GE’s 2.82-127 onshore wind turbines for the 302MW Lincoln Land Wind project in Morgan County, Illinois.
It will also service the wind farm for 20 years.
The 302MW Lincoln Land Wind wind farm is owned by funds managed by the Infrastructure and Power strategy of Ares Management Corporation (Ares).
It is expected online by the end of 2021.
Fast food giant McDonald’s will buy output from a 126MW portion of Lincoln Land, while technology colossus Facebook is due to buy output from an approximately 175MW portion.
Apex Clean Energy developed the wind farm, while Ares secured the deal for the turbines, financing (tax equity and debt), and other project contracts.
GE Renewable Energy has secured deals for more than 800MW of onshore wind capacity contracted by Ares in the last 12 months, the manufacturer’s CEO for onshore Americas Tim White said.
The GE 2.82-127 turbine was the most widely deployed turbine in the US in 2020, while GE supplied the most capacity last year, according to the American Clean Power Association (ACP).
