Crane collapse delays work at Swedish wind farm

A crashing crane at Sweden鈥檚 175MW Bj枚rkvattnet onshore wind farm site pushed construction back by roughly three weeks, developer confirms

The project will feature GE's Cypress 5.3-158 platform

Completion of the 175MW Bj枚rkvattnet project is now expected in June, after one of the site鈥檚 main cranes came down during challenging weather conditions at night on 11 January.

Renewables developer Treblade 鈥 owned by Infravia Capital Partners 鈥 told 搖錢樹娛樂城 that no one was injured during the incident.

Located in Jamtland County, the crane crash has delayed the installation of the remaining GE turbines at the project by around three weeks, pushing the final completion date back to June.

The manufacturer is supplying 33 GE Cypress 5.3-158 turbines to the site.

A Treblade spokesperson said the crane was currently being dismantled.

It is estimated that the wrecked lattice boom mobile crane has a load capacity of 650 tonnes with a radius of 12 metres and a maximum load torque of 9,152 tonnes.

A GE spokesman confirmed that it was working closely with Treblade to continue to install turbines at the site 鈥渁s quickly and safely as possible鈥.
