Announced today (11 February), SGRE is finalising a deal聽 with CrossWind 鈥 a joint venture between oil major Shell (79.9%) and gas firm Eneco (20.1%) 鈥 to supply its 11MW offshore turbines.
The contract conditions to supply the 759MW Hollandse Kust Noord 听辞蹿fshore wind project are planned to be met in the coming months, which will see the contract 鈥渃onverted鈥 into a firm order, Siemens Gamesa has confirmed.聽
Under the deal, SGRE will deliver 69 SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines with a 15-year service agreement.
Shell New Energies and Eneco鈥檚 subsidy-free 759MW Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm is being built in Dutch waters and is expected to come online in 2023. This month, the developers confirmed they would be supplying Amazon with 380MW of power from the project.
In a statement, CrossWind鈥檚 CEO Tjalling de Bruin said: 鈥淲ith contracts in place, final investment decision taken and turbines instated with the latest technologies, we will be able to deliver clean energy by 2023.鈥
According to SGRE, the project鈥檚 11MW turbine provides 鈥渁 high degree of reliability in demanding offshore wind projects from its strong performance, swift time-to-market and low risk鈥.聽
The annual energy production of the turbine shows a 9% increase compared with the SG 10.0-193 DD offshore wind turbine, thanks to its 200-metre diameter rotor featuring the 97-metre long Siemens Gamesa B97 integral blade.聽
Marc Becker the CEO of Siemens Gamesa鈥檚 offshore business unit, said his company was helping drive the 鈥済reen recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic".聽
鈥淲e鈥檙e happy to lend our expertise in offshore wind and help the Netherlands achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions from their energy supply by 2050. On an even more local level, the long-term service agreement ensures direct economic benefits for years to come,鈥 he added in a statement.
The Dutch government is aiming for a minimum of 55% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2030. To achieve this, the country is planning to build six offshore wind zones up to 2030 鈥 three have already been awarded.
Once construction is complete, Siemens Gamesa鈥檚 said its offshore wind turbines will be installed at all three awarded zones听辞蹿 1520MW Hollandse Kust Zuid , Hollandse Kust Noord and co-installed at Borssele 鈥 752MW Borssele I & II , 731.5MW Borssele III & IV and 19MW Borssele V .
