Siemens veteran Dan McGrail will take over from current chief Hugh McNeal in May.
McGrail joined Siemens UK in 2004, leading the company鈥檚 plans to develop and invest in offshore wind turbine manufacturing between 2010 and 2014
His list of accomplishments include securing a deal for Siemens鈥 offshore wind turbine blade factory and port facility in Hull, north-east England 鈥 a 拢310 million (鈧350 million) investment alongside Associated British Ports to revitalise Hull鈥檚 Alexandra Dock.听
As managing director of Siemens Power Generation from 2014 to 2017, he expanded Siemens UK鈥檚 reach in the thermal power markets, which covered combined-cycle gas turbine power plants and steam turbine power plants for use in biomass and energy-from-waste applications.
From 2017, he took over as CEO of Siemens Engines 鈥 formerly Guascor Power based in Zumaia and Spain 鈥 leading the rebranding of the company.
Throughout this time, McGrail held vice-chair of the Association of Decentralised Energy and served as chair of the association from 2016 to 2019. He also set up the Heat Network Industry Council to lobby politicians and drive policy reform to build zero-carbon heat networks.
Renewable UK鈥檚 current chief McNeal 鈥 who鈥檚 been at the helm since 2016 鈥 said McGrail 鈥漜ared鈥 about the industry.
