GE's Cypress platform secures 69MW order in Lithuania

GE Renewable Energy will supply 13 Cypress 5.3MW turbines for a project in Lithuania that marks the first large-scale subsidy-free wind farm in the Baltic region

GE's new Cypress platform with a 5.3MW power rating will power the Lithuanian project

E Energija's 69.3MW TelÅ¡iai Ìýproject is located 250km north-west of the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius.

GE Capital's Energy Financial Services and E Energija reached financial close with Sweden's SEB Bank in the first week of August.

The project is underpinned by a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Eesti Energia AS, the state-owned utility of neighbouring Estonia.

GE has also secured a full service agreement for 25 years.

Civil and electrical work at the site started in July. First deliveries of the Cypress turbines are scheduled for April 2021 with the project expected to be commissioned by the end of next year.

According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, Lithuania currently has 548MW of installed wind capacity.
