East Anglia One completed amid the pandemic

ScottishPower Renewables has fully commissioned its 714MW East Anglia One project off the UK鈥檚 east coast, with about half of the turbine connection work completed since the UK went into lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

ScottishPower Renewables' 714MW East Anglia One project features 102 Siemens Gamesa SWT 7.0-154 turbines

About a fifth of the project鈥檚 102 Siemens Gamesa SWT 7.0-154 turbines were installed after the UK went into lockdown in mid-March, the developer added.

To protect workers, the developer used a higher number of smaller vessels than it would have used before the pandemic, created crew 鈥榟ouseholds鈥 who lived and worked together at all times, and minimised crew changes.

It also carried out testing onsite and observed social distancing during construction of the听714MW East Anglia ONE wind farm.

Charlie Jordan, East Anglia One project director at ScottishPower Renewables, said: 鈥淩eaching this point was always going to be an extremely important moment for us 鈥 heralding the start of full production of green energy from a major site that will play a real part in the UK鈥檚 path to 'Net Zero'.

"What has made it even more incredible is the determination and tenacity of our team, who have worked tirelessly to deliver this significant technical project amidst an unprecedented pandemic, which none of us could have planned for.鈥
