Japan鈥檚 largest utility company Jera and the French state-owned investment firm Ademe Investissement have announced an undisclosed finance package after backing Ideol鈥檚 patented Damping Pool technology.
The trio said it would be funding 鈥渟everal floating offshore wind projects鈥 across the world over the next five years. Scotland and France are earmarked for potential investment, plus Japan and the US.
Earlier this year, France confirmed plans to become a 鈥渨orld leader鈥 in floating offshore wind under its multi-year energy plan with a聽first offering for a 250MW site off south Brittany in 2021, while more floating wind is expected to be realised in Scotland's聽next leasing round聽following the success of the 30MW Hywind Scotland floating offshore wind project.
Adame CEO Arnaud Leroy said floating offshore wind would become a 鈥渟ubstantial contributor to achieving future climate goals鈥.
