WindEnergy Hamburg, which attracts exhibitors and attendees from around the world, was due to take place on 22-25 September 2020.
However given the social-distancing protocols in place and plenty of unknowns remaining about how the virus may still spread, the organisers have shifted it to 1-4 December 2020.
"Unfortunately, it is currently difficult to predict the future development of Covid-19 and its consequences for large-scale international events," said Bernd Aufderheide, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress.
"We are therefore postponing WindEnergy Hamburg to the end of the year. By doing so we hope to give our exhibitors and visitors a more reliable basis for their planning.
"WindEnergy Hamburg 2020 will not only maintain its traditional high standards but also include new, digital formats. Parts of the conference and trade fair will be prepared as digital or hybrid offers. This will enable us to explore new pathways through this crisis," Aufderheide added.

Cleanpower
Across the Atlantic, the American Wind Energy Association has been forced to adapt its inaugural Cleanpower event, set for Denver, Colorado, on 1-4 June.
AWEA has moved the event online with a reduced programme. But it will still feature a 'State of the Industry' address by CEO Tom Kiernan, as well as panel debates and interviews with industry experts all streamed via the internet.
The get-together in Colorado was due to be AWEA's first expanded event including the role of solar and storage in the energy mix. The 2019 show was held in Houston, Texas.
