Nordex wins first N149/5.X order

Nordex gets a first order for its N149/5.X turbine, after developers of a 286MW Swedish wind farm switched their initial order to the manufacturer’s 5MW-plus model.

Nordex's N149/5.X is based technologically on the N149/4.0-4.5 model from the manufacturer’s 4MW Delta4000 platform

Investment house Ardian and Nordic developer OX2 had originally placed an order for 53 of Nordex’s N149/4.0-4.5 turbines for their then-250MW Åndberg wind farm in Härjedalen, western Sweden.

But they have now requested 53 units of the manufacturer’s N149/5.X turbine, which it first unveiled in March 2019.

It will be the first commercial deployment of the 5MW platform, Nordex stated.

286MW Åndberg  is currently under construction, its owner Ardian stated. Turbine delivery, installation and commissioning are scheduled for 2021.

Nordex’s chief sales officer Patxi Landa explained that the N149/5.X is based technologically on the N149/4.0-4.5 model from the manufacturer’s Delta4000 platform.Ìý

Ardian bought Ã…ndberg from OX2 in February 2019. The latter will deliver the project through an engineering, procurement and construction agreement with Ardian.
