The developers have made the data — including environmental information, motions of the floating wind turbine and mooring system loads — available through research body ORE Catapult’s Platform for Operational Data (POD) service.
They aim to "better engage industry, academia and the offshore wind supply chain in the UK and internationally, to foster collaboration and drive innovation in floating offshore wind".
By doing this, the developers hope to reduce the cost of floating offshore wind and make it "a cost-competitive industrial solution", they added.
ORE Catapult hopes to expand its availability of data sets in the future.
At RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables’ Floating Offshore Wind Conference in October, the Oil and Gas Authority’s director of operations Gunther Newcombe told delegates the floating offshore wind industry could benefit from better data sharing practices.
