Connecticut launches 2GW search

Connecticut has issued draft request for proposals (RFP) for up to 2GW of offshore wind.

The state requiring up to 2GW of offshore wind by 2030. The final solicitation is due by 15 August.

Connecticut is seeking to align its RFP as much as possible with , where an RFP for proposals for 800MW of offshore wind was issued on 24 May.

Federal tax credits for developing wind power in the US are also expiring, and the state is aware that companies must start investing by 31 December to qualify. There are , however.

Liz Burdock, CEO and president of the Business Network for Offshore Wind, congratulated the state for moving so quickly in launching the bid.

"Coupled with the other major announcements on offshore wind projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island this spring, it confirms the growing strength of the industry in New England," she said.
