PPA signed for world's first floating wind farm

Danish energy trading company Danske Commodities has signed a power purchasing agreement (PPA) for the world's first utiity-scale floating offshore wind farm.

Equinor and Masdar's 30MW Hywind project achieved first power in October 2017

It will take over the balancing and trading of the entire output of parent company Equinor and Masdar’s 30MW Hywind Scotland project under a 20-year contract.

Hywind Scotland achieved in October 2017. It powers around 20,000 households.

It acquired Danske Commodities in July 2018, and its subsidiary is now handling trading of its electricity certificates, the parent company added.

The energy trading company manages more than 5.9GW of renewable assets in Europe, and is active in 38 power markets, it stated.
