"The Jemeiwaa-Kai projects will be key to support our long-term growth in Colombia, providing a complement to existing hydro assets and bolstering long-term contracting efforts," CEO Ricardo Falú told analysts in a conference call.
The five projects — Apotolorru, Carrizal, Casa Eléctrica, Irraipa and Jotomana — are all located in the remote northeast Guajira region.
Falú said the company had also acquired exclusive access to 549MW of capacity on a new transmission line that will link the area to central Colombia from 2022.
"This will be key to the viability of development of projects in this region," the executive said.
The Santiago-listed company, which is controlled by US power firm AES Corp, also unveiled a portfolio of three wind farms in Chile’s southern Biobio region which it said were ready to begin construction this year.
It said that the projects formed part of a strategy to reduce the intensity of carbon use in Chile’s electricity supplies in line with government targets.
