It will maintain substations, transition pieces and foundation structures, including protecting the latter from corrosion, the service provider stated.
The German company will also manage technical, commercial and QHSE (quality, health, safety, environment) services for the site 8km off Taiwan’s western coast.
It will establish a new country unit in Taiwan, headquartered in the capital city of Taipei.
Deutsche Windtechnik’s Taiwanese unit will initially comprise 25 staff, including service technicians, HSE managers, administration, and crew for a newly built crew transfer vessel (CTV).
The company is also in discussions with Taiwanese universities to "secure young talent from the region" and offer training courses, it added.
German developer Wpd’s 640MW Yunlin wind farm is due to be installed in two phases and commissioned in 2021.
Siemens Gamesa is in line for the project.
Tower-provider CS Wind and metal firm Chin Fong will use the latter’s facilities at Taichung harbour on the country’s west coast to for the wind farm.
Wpd’s Yunlin project was one of ten offshore wind farms by Taiwan’s ministry of economic affairs in April.
