The first prototype of its S120 2.1MW turbine with a hub height of 140 metres has been installed at a site in Tirunelvi in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
Previously, the turbine had been developed with a hub height of 120 metres.
Suzlon added that its hybrid concrete tubular tower concept was a "perfect fit for the new competitive bidding regime" in India, in which large-scale projects with higher numbers of turbines are more commonplace.
It explained that moulds could be re-used for these turbines, reducing logistics costs.
Also, the tower’s concrete base enabled higher hub heights, Suzlon stated.
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon, said: "The Indian wind energy market is evolving due to the transition to competitive bidding and it has become crucial for us to offer technologically advanced products that are best suited for sites in India and ensure higher return on investment to our customers."
Suzlon also installed the largest India-made turbine, by capacity, in March 2018.
