LM's first 66.6-metre blades installed in China

CHINA: LM Wind Power's first two sets of 66.6-metre blades have been successfully installed on Shanghai Electric Wind Power's (Sewind's) 4MW turbine.

The blade manufacturer installed them at China Huangeng Group’s 100MW Lingang Phase I site off Shanghai on the country’s central coast.

GE-owned LM Wind Power had signed a deal with Sewind under which the Danish company would deliver the 66.6-metre blade sets from its facility in Qinhuangdao in north-east China during 2018 and 2019.

LM Wind Power has been present in China since 2001 and currently employs nearly 2,500 people there. It has three manufacturing facilities in Qinhuangdao, Jiangyin (central coast) and Baodi (north-east).

Sewind’s 4MW turbine, the W4000-30, is licensed from Siemens Gamesa and has been selected for several low-wind, but typhoon-prone projects in Chinese waters. “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç named it as the third best offshore turbine in the world in January 2018.
