Service rivals carve up MPI Offshore

UK: Van Oord and Jan De Nul have acquired MPI Offshore staff and a number of its vessels.

The MPI Discovery and its crew will be transferred to Jan De Nul under one of the deals

The two companies have announced agreements signed with MPI’s owner Vroon Group carving up the specialist offshore wind installation contractor.

Luxembourg-based contractors Jan De Nul has acquired MPI’s 140-metre long jack-up crane vessel MPI Discovery, its crew and "a number of MPI’s employees".

Meanwhile, Van Oord has bought the vessels and crew of the MPI Adventure and MPI Resolution and contracts associated with each ship.

The Dutch offshore services provide has also acquired the MPI organisation based in Stokesley in the UK.

MPI has one more wind turbine installation vessel, the MPI Enterprise, which has not been claimed by either company.
