Permits have now been approved for all three stages of the Markbygden/1101 group of wind farms in the Piteå municipality.
The complex consists of three stages, with capacities of 917MW, 1.3GW, and 1.8GW, with each stage comprising several wind farms.
received planning permission in autumn 2012. It will consist of 314 turbines and is sub-divided into three projects, 183MW Ersträsk, 84MW Skogberget, and the 650MW Markbygden ETT. Ersträsk and Markbygden ETT are both under construction. They have since been sold to an unspecified third party and a joint venture of the Macquarie-owned Green Investment Group and GE respectively.
Svevind received permission to build the 440-turbine of the development in December 2015. It has since sold the phase to an unspecified third party, according to the developer’s website.
Permission to build the 442-turbine was granted in March 2016, but this decision was referred to the Land and Environment Appeal Court. That court has subsequently approved the initial permission.
Mikael Church, Svevind’s operations manager, said: "This is an important milestone for us. Today we celebrate; tomorrow we will continue the planning work to start the construction of stage three as soon as possible."
Svevind has not confirmed operational dates for any of the full phases of Markbygden/1101.
