Speaking at the RenewableUK Global Offshore Wind 2018 conference in Manchester (19-20 June), Kavafyan said the market is "real" and is expected to add roughly 5.5GW of new capacity between 2020 and 2025.
"What is new is Taiwan, with a very ambitious plan from the government," Kavafyan said.
Kavafyan expects the offshore industry to become 'truly' global soon, with new markets such as Japan, the US, Vietnam, India and Turkey all expected to add significant capacity.
"The United States exceeded all expectations," said Kavafyan with the pace of development accelerating in the US.
"The and the [happened] in a timeline no one would have expected."
"The future is bright. The industry is literally taking off," Kavafyan added.
