The Sarajevo Canton (local government) awarded Suzlon a 30-year concession for the site, which expected to be online in 2019.
Environmental permits and other licences still need to be completed. Suzlon will supply its 2.1MW turbine to the Hadžici project.
According to the canton economy minister Muharem Sabic, €30 million will be invested in the site.
"It is in the interest of the Canton and the investor to complete the construction as soon as possible.
"The Canton has changed the policy of granting concessions, which has been shown through amendments to the current law by which the deadline for concessions is shortened and now stands at four to six months," said Sabic.
Suzlon’s European business development director Erik Winther Pedersen said the project will bring jobs to the area: "We will need local works for the construction of roads, infrastructure facilities and the foundations themselves, which will require about 300 cubic meters of concrete, as well as huge quantities of steel for metal works.
"After the windmills begin to work, they will need to be maintained. Certified machines must be serviced at least twice a year. We will need electrical and mechanical engineers for these jobs for a period of sustainability of these plants, which is between 20 and 25 years old," Winther said.
