It added more than 1GW of such projects to its portfolio in 2017, boosting its total renewable energy capacity over 6.4GW in the process.
The developer, which operates in the Carolinas, the Midwest and Florida states, also stated that it is "on track" to meet its 8GW by 2020 renewables target.
Solar currently makes up 52% of Duke’s renewable capacity, while wind makes up 38% and biomass the remaining 10%, according to the developer’s most recent sustainability report.
Last year’s new wind power additions included the 200MW Frontier site in Oklahoma, which began producing power in 2017.
Duke Energy’s wind projects produced 6,908GWh last year, accounting for 3.2% of the total electricity generated by the developer’s assets.
The developer’s generation figures for wind power exceeded those for its solar assets, which generated 1,769GWh in 2017, accounting for 0.8% of total electricity generated.
