The manufacturer will provide 12 SG 2.6-114 turbines to the Dam Nai project in southern Ninh Thuan province.
It installed three turbines of the same model last year and will commission the remaining 12 by October, Siemens Gamesa stated. Dam Nai will total 39MW when fully constructed.
Dam Nai’s operator, independent power producer Blue Circle, has also contracted Siemens Gamesa to handle the project’s operations and maintenance (O&M) for the next ten years.
Siemens Gamesa expects "significant growth" in Vietnam in the coming years as the country "begins to utilise some of the best wind resources in south east Asia", the company added.
As of 1 April 2018, the country had 197MW of installed wind power capacity, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
This capacity is split between 98MW onshore and 99MW offshore.
