The 151-metre long, 50-metre wide Seafox 5 jack-up rig is ready for the next generation of offshore turbines.
It recently completed a four-month upgrade to equip it with a longer main boom on its 1,200-tonne crane, test its legs to 70-metres above sea level, replace wear plates, install a secondary crane, and get a lick of paint.
The Seafox 5 is the largest model in Dutch jack-up vessel specialist Seafox’s fleet, able to accommodate 150 personnel. After its refit, Seafox 5 was deployed
to Partners Group’s 400MW Merkur offshore wind project in the German North Sea to install 66 GE 6MW Haliade turbines.
The upgrade was carried out by shipbuilder Damen at its Rotterdam shipyard.
