The manufacturer will supply 13 of its 2.3MW turbines with a hub height of 120 metres for Engie’s 29.9MW Tithwa site in India’s westernmost state.
It stated that the model's 120-metre rotor will be the largest found on 2MW turbines in the country.
Tithwa is due to be commissioned within 12 months, Senvion said.
Senvion will install the 13 turbines under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract and will also carry out ten years of operations and maintenance (O&M) at the site.
The manufacturer had established an Indian subsidiary in February 2016 and set up a research and development (R&D) centre in the country.
French energy group Engie won the contract for the Tithwa project through Gujarat’s competitive reverse auction in December.
The group is part of a joint venture (JV) with investors the Abraaj Group to develop a wind portfolio of more than 1GW in India.
When commissioned, the Tithwa site could be the JV’s first completed wind farm in the country.
