Tennet CEO Mel Kroon announced he would stand down after a 16-year tenure in January 2018.
Manon van Beek, who has been responsible for ’s utilities in the Netherlands, as well as across Europe, will replace Kroon from 1 September.
"The transition to a sustainable society requires innovation and stakeholder dialogue and I will be happy to make my contribution to this societal challenge at a crucial juncture in the energy transition," she said.
Tennet was appointed the in March 2016, and now has ten cross-border connections in the northwest European energy market.
By 2023, it aims to have developed a high-voltage grid with a capacity of 3.5GW along the coast of the North Sea.
The TSO is also part of a partnership investigating the possible development of a capable of connecting up to 100GW of offshore wind farms to shore.
Pieter Verboom, chair of Tennet’s supervisory board, said: "Manon van Beek brings to us a solid knowledge of the utilities industry.
"She also has ample experience in digital techniques and innovation, both of which are strategically important to Tennet.
"With her proven leadership qualities we have every confidence that Tennet will continue playing a prominent role in the energy transition."
