Iberdrola awards service deals for 4GW-plus fleet

SPAIN: Iberdrola has awarded maintenance contracts worth a combined €110 million for more than 4GW of its turbine fleet in the Iberian Peninsula.

Iberdrola had 5,507 MW of installed capacity in Spain and 92 MW in Portugal at the end of 2017

The framework agreements include two-year basic maintenance contracts and three-year risk service — including preventive and small corrective maintenance, as well as predictive maintenance of oil use.

All wind farms subject to the agreements use Siemens Gamesa turbines, Iberdrola stated.

Vestas will be the main beneficiaries, carrying out preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance for 2,190MW of wind turbines

Siemens Gamesa, meanwhile, will maintain 1,265MW.

Iberdrola has also hired the services of Basque maintenance and energy solutions companies (233.3MW) and (421MW), Galician maintenance company (218MW) and Portuguese engineering company (96.9MW).

Iberdrola awarded the contracts to the six companies for 4,425MW following a six-month tendering process.
