The Victorian government’s aim to boost the state’s share of renewable energy to 25% by 2020 and 40% by 2025 was a "decisive factor" in choosing Melbourne, the German manufacturer stated.
Nordex is also installing the , which comprises 44 of its AW125/3000 turbines, in Victoria.
The team working in the Melbourne office will comprise "experts in the fields of project management and service" and deal with commissioning and then servicing of turbines, Nordex stated.
As well as installing the Mount Gellibrand site, the Nordex Group — following its acquisition Acciona — has also built the in Victoria and the in New South Wales, for a total capacity of 370.5MW.
Chief sales officer, Patxi Landa said: "Current projects show that we are suitably meeting demand with our highly efficient and newer wind turbines with 3.9MW and 4-4.5MW capacity.
"In the process, regional suppliers are assuming an increasingly important role."
The state of Victoria adopted its own renewable energy target after Australia's national goal of 41TWh by 2020 was cut to 33TWh two years ago.
