Renerga to expand Lithuania projects

LITHUANIA: Renerga, one of Lithuania's largest renewables producers, plans to invest $20 million to expand its already existing wind assets.

Renerga is expanding the Benaiciai site in northwest Lithuania

Renerga currently operates a 7.2 MW wind farm in Anyksciai district of northeast Lithuania, as well as a 50MW complex of wind farms in Benaiciai.

The Benaiciai site is being increased up to 70MW, with the work due to be completed by the end of 2017.

Planned expansion of Anyksciai plant is not disclosed.

Renerga plans to invest between $15-20 million in the expansion.

Implementation of the expansion forms part of the 2012 Lithuanian National Energy Independence Strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewables in its electricity mix to 20% by 2020.
