The German manufacturer‘s new 2.8MW test rig means it can carry out load tests on gearboxes at its service centre in Rockhampton, Queensland, ensuring their functionality prior to installation.
The 1,500-square metre service centre opened in 2013 and offers repairs, both in the field and at the workshop, as well as maintenance. It also provides spare parts and gearboxes.
Winergy’s vice president for service, Detlef Eissing, said: "Quality is the priority for every product we supply.
"This test bench helps us to secure the reliability of our gearboxes. The result are minimised lifecycle costs for our customers."

The new test bench is part of Siemens’ A$5 million (US$3.95 million) investment in the centre, announced last month.
The investment comes after Queensland’s government committed to increasing the uptake of renewables to create jobs, encourage investment and reduce emissions.
Last January, the government created a renewable energy expert panel made up of energy, environmental and business leaders. The panel authored a report, delivered to the government in November 2016, investigating how the state can generate 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
