GE wins Willogoleche supply deal

AUSTRALIA: GE Renewable Energy will supply 32 GE turbines to Engie's project in South Australia.

Willogoleche will be Engie's second wind project following the Canunda site in 2005

GE is set to supply 24 3.8MW and eight 3.4MW turbines with 130-metre rotors.

The 118.4MW Willogoleche project is 160 kilometres north of Adelaide and due online in mid-2018. Construction services will be provided by Catcon.

Willogoleche will be Engie's second wind site in Australia, following the completion of the 46MW, 23-turbine Canunda project, also in South Australia. Canunda comprises Vestas 2MW turbines, and was completed in 2005.

"We have seen tremendous momentum in the Australian wind industry this year. This will be our fourth wind farm to begin construction in 2017, with more than 300 GE turbines either operating or under construction across the country," sad GE Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea CEO Geoff Culbert.

GE is also supplying turbines to the Silverton project developed by AGL Energy, which is under construction in the state.
