PacifiCorp plans 1GW repowering

UNITED STATES: PacifiCorp has asked the Idaho Public Utilities Commission for permission to repower over 1GW of projects.

In the submission, PacifiCorp subsidiary Rocky Mountain Power is looking to repower the 99MW Glenrock I; 39MW Glenrock III; 99MW Rolling Hills; 118.5MW Seven Mile Hill I & II; 99MW High Plains; 28.5MW McFadden Ridge; 111MW Dunlap Ranch I; 140.4MW Marengo I; 70.2MW Marengo II; 94MW Goodnoe Hills; and the 110.5MW Leaning Juniper.

The projects are located in Wyoming, Washington and Oregon, and were installed between 2006 and 2010, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intellgence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.

The company has lined up GE and Vestas to supply the new turbines and hopes to have the repowered projects online by 2020, in order to qualify for the Production Tax Credit.

PacifiCorp announced a new energy plan in April 2017, including funding for a new 225km transmission line across Wyoming.

Under the plan, the Oregon-based utility planned to add 859MW of new wind capacity by 2020.
