TPI to make Gamesa rotor blades in Turkey

TURKEY: US-based TPI Composites will supply rotor blades for Gamesa turbines from a new manufacturing facility in Izmir in Turkey.

Turkey deal between TPI and Gamesa follows similar arrangement in Mexico

The two companies have signed an agreement that will run through to at least 2022.

TPI, the US’s largest independent composite blade maker, expects to begin manufacturing for Gamesa in early 2018.

It has been producing blades for Gamesa in Mexico since 2014 under a similar long-term agreement.

"We are pleased that Gamesa has chosen to expand its business relationship with us in Turkey and outsource blade production for the EMEA region," said TPI president and CEO Steve Lockard.
