Berkshire Hathaway to add Uptake Wind analytics tool

UNITED STATES: Major US energy firm Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE) has announced a deal with Uptake Technology to use its predictive analytics system Uptake Wind on its 5GW wind fleet in the US.

Uptake Wind will use its analytics system on Berkshire Hathaway Energy's 5GW of US capacity

The software as a service (SaaS) technology will be made available in the autumn to Berkshire Hathaway and other customers.

The deal follows a year of joint research on the predictive software, Uptake said.

It will be added to BHE's US wind fleet which stands at around 5GW, the software firm said.

"We wanted software that was more than a dashboard. We want to put data-driven recommendations into the hands of our operational team members, so they can drive business value directly," said Bill Fehrman, CEO of the two BHE wind operators, BHE Renewables and MidAmerican Energy.

Uptake provides software across a range of sectors, including construction, mining, rail and aviation, as well as energy.

It uses sensors to generate data, enterprise system inputs and other data to provide predictive diagnostics and optimise assets for better productivity and lower costs.
