BP Group-owned Castrol said the move would create "physics-based, data-driven" predictive servicing business with the potential to reduce maintenance costs by up to 30%.
Castrol provides the wind industry with lubricants for gearboxes. Romax Technology's Insight business provides condition monitoring systems, predictive maintenance software and design services.
Romax Technology CEO Andy Poon said: "The aim of Romax InSight is to combine our deep understanding of design and operation of wind turbines with advanced data analytics to provide practical solutions that reduce operations and maintenance costs. In 2014, Romax signed a partnership deal with EDF's servicing unit for the provision of technicians to support Romax's operations and maintenance services in the US.
