The new site in Huddersfield, north-west England, means gearboxes can be taken there for servicing instead of being shipped to mainland Europe.
This approach will reduce turbine downtime and logistics costs. The upgraded facility was supported by the UK government's regional growth fund initiative to encourage sustained growth and employment.
Moventas said it is able to service 60 models of turbines across 20 brands, including Vestas, Nordex, Senvion and Siemens.
The site of the test rig in Huddersfield was acquired by Moventas when it bought the wind business from David Brown Engineering in September 2013.
