Offshore boosts E.on in first half

GERMANY: The full operation of two new offshore wind projects helped push the earnings before interest and tax of E.on's renewables division to €254 million for the first half of 2016, €53 million up on the same period last year.

Last year's commissioning of Humber Gateway project helped boost E.on's first-half earnings

The 302MW Amrumbank West wind farm in Germany’s North Sea, and the 219MW Humber Gateway project off the UK’s east coast were both commissioned in 2015.

The good offshore performance was not reflected in the results for the utility’s onshore wind and solar business.

Declining prices and lower output across Europe saw earnings before interest and taxes fall from €150 million in the first half of 2015 to €53 million this year.
