The 57.5MW Novoazovskiy project, owned by Wind Parks of Ukraine, is located in Donetsk, south-east Ukraine, an area controlled by pro-Russian rebels following the unrest in 2014/15.
In 2015 the Ukranian government imposed a ban on the purchase of energy produced by the Novoazovskiy wind farm, due to its location in the territory. The ban has now been lifted following a number of court victories for the developer.
The Novoazovskiy wind farm comprises 23 Furhländer 2.5MW turbines and was commissioned in two phases in 2011 and 2012, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
In 2013, the developer received a €48.8 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and development and the Clean Technology Fund to help operate the project.
