Sandbank
Foundation update: Despite rough weather conditions bringing offshore construction works at Sandbank almost to a standstill during November and December 2015, 69 of the project's 72 monopiles and transition pieces are now in place.
A hydro-sound-damper — comprising a net with plastic components — and a "bubble curtain" have been deployed, in order to reduce underwater noise.
Vattenfall is developing the 288MW project in the German North Sea, to the west of the island of Sylt. 1-Feb-16
Hywind Scotland
Cable supplier: Statoil has contracted Nexans to supply cabling and associated accessories to its Hywind Scotland Pilot Park.
The contract is worth around €10.2 million. The cables will be tested and manufactured at Nexans' facility in Halden, Norway, before delivery is completed by the end of 2017.
Planned for a North Sea site off Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, the 30MW project's cabling will comprise an inter-array cable network and a single export cable.
Nexans also supplied the cables to Statoil's 2.3MW Norwegian demonstration project. 3-Feb-16
Westermost Rough
OFTO deal: Westermost Rough Ltd — a wholly owned subsidiary of Dong Energy (50%), the UK Green Investment Bank (25%) and Marubeni Corporation (25%) — has agreed the sale of its transmission assets to TC Westermost Rough OFTO Limited, a consortium comprising Transmission Capital Partners and International Public Partnerships.
Serving the 210MW Westermost Rough, the transmission assets include the on- and offshore substations and the export cables. Their value is £157 million (€205 million). 4-Feb-16
Amrumbank West
Project completion: E.on's Amrumbank West has been inaugurated at a ceremony in Hamburg.
Located in the German North Sea, north of Helgoland and west of Amrum, the €1 billion, 302MW wind farm came online in 2015. 5-Feb-16
Wikinger
Project help: EnBW and Iberdrola have signed a two year contract for the provision of construction services at Wikinger.
EnBW will provide services including coordination of shipping, health and safety protection and environmental protection at the 350MW Baltic Sea project site.
Foundations timetable: In March 2016, installation of the first piles for anchoring Wikinger's 70 four-legged jacket foundations to the sea bed will commence, as will preparations for inter-array cable laying.
Iberdrola's €1.4bn project is under development in the German Baltic Sea and due for completion in 2017. 5-Feb-16
