RES Americas acquires transmission firm System 3

UNITED STATES: RES Americas has acquired US transmission specialist System 3 as part of its growth strategy.

System 3 worked on the 781MW Roscoe wind complex in Texas

The US arm of global developer and project operator RES has acquired all assets, personnel and equipment of System 3, based in Sacramento, California. The new company will be known as RES System 3, LLC. The deal was completed on 2 November.

The buy-out is part of its growth strategy to "transistion towards a fully integrated self-perform contractor" and to help diversify its services further into utility infrastructure and transmission construction, said RES Americas.

System 3 claims to have connected "gigawatts" of wind energy to the US grid including the 782MW Roscoe wind complex in Texas.

"With this acquisition, RES will be able to leverage System 3's expertise in the renewable energy space to grow market share and provide our clients with more solutions under one company," said Glen Davis, CEO of RES Americas.
